Quiz #9: 4.7 kΩ is how many ohms?
// WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
4.7 kΩ is how many ohms? (4,700)
// LESSON NOTES
QUIZ: 4.7 kΩ is how many ohms? 🤔
A) 47 Ω B) 470 Ω C) 4,700 Ω D) 47,000 Ω
Answer: C, 4,700 Ω!
"k" = kilo = × 1,000. So 4.7 × 1,000 = 4,700 Ω. (On a resistor: yellow · violet · red = 4,700 Ω.)
PRO TIP: on circuit drawings you'll see it written as 4K7 — the K sits where the decimal point goes, so a tiny dot can't get lost. Same idea: 2K2 = 2,200 Ω, 4R7 = 4.7 Ω.
Kilo, times a thousand!

- Four point seven k. How many ohms?
- Forty-seven, four seventy, four thousand seven hundred, or forty-seven thousand?
- It's C! Kilo means times a thousand. So, four thousand seven hundred ohms!
- On circuit drawings it's written four K seven. The K sits where the point goes!
