🌍 AROUND THE WORLD:
• UK & Europe: brown = live, blue = neutral, green-yellow = earth
• India: red = live, black = neutral, green (or green-yellow) = earth
• USA & Canada: black = hot (live), white = neutral, green or bare copper = earth (ground)

⚡ WHY EARTH MATTERS: if a live wire touches the metal case of an appliance, the earth wire carries that fault current safely into the ground, so the breaker or fuse trips instead of you getting a shock.

⚠️ Old wiring can use different colours — always test before you touch, or call an electrician.
