Workbench Skills Part 4: Continuity beep — find a broken wire
// WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
Power OFF, beep mode: a beep means a path (good wire or fuse), silence means a break.
// LESSON NOTES
Is this cable broken? Find out in 2 seconds! 🔊
1️⃣ Unplug it first — never test a live circuit. ⚠️
2️⃣ Turn the multimeter dial to the beep symbol (continuity).
3️⃣ Touch the probes together: BEEP! The meter works. ✅
4️⃣ Put one probe on each end of the wire:
🔊 Beep = the path is good
🔇 Silence (OL) = there's a break inside ❌
Works on fuses, switches and PCB tracks too.
