Trending · Flying Roadster Part 6: Quiz — 0–60 mph in 0.81 s is how many g?
// WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
26.8 m/s / 0.81 s = 33 m/s^2 = about 3.4 g, nearly 3x what tyres alone can grip.
// LESSON NOTES
QUIZ: 0–60 mph in 0.81 seconds. How many g is that? 🏎️💨
A) 1 g B) 2 g C) 3.4 g D) 10 g
Answer: C, 3.4 g!
60 mph = 26.8 metres a second. Reach it in 0.81 s → about 33 m/s² of acceleration. Divide by 9.8 (one g) → 3.4 g.
Tyres alone can only grip about 1.2 g, so the car needs help: fans for more grip and thrusters for extra push. A fast supercar (0–60 in about 2.5 s) feels about 1.1 g — this is three times more!
(0.81 s is from Tesla's own live timer at the demo.)
