Explained Simply #8: How does a speaker turn electricity into sound?
A speaker = magnet + coil + cone: current makes the coil a magnet, the flipping (AC) current pushes and pulls it, and the cone squeezes the air into sound waves (note A = 440 a second).
How does a speaker turn electricity into SOUND? 🔊
Inside every speaker: a magnet 🧲, a coil of wire 🌀 and a light paper cone.
⚡ Current in the coil turns it into a magnet too.
🔁 Music is a current that flips direction — so the magnet pushes, pulls, pushes, pulls the coil… and the cone moves with it.
For the note A, the cone moves 440 times a second (440 Hz)! 🎵
The cone squeezes the air into waves — and your ear hears them. 👂
