Sensors Part 4: How a Tesla sees the road (in India) — follower request @_adarshjaat007
Tesla cars (also the Model Y sold in India since July 2025) see with 8 cameras around the car; a computer turns the video into a 3D picture of lanes, cars and people, then warns, brakes or steers. Newer Teslas dropped radar and ultrasonic parking sensors for cameras only. In India, Full Self-Driving can be bought but is not legally self-driving yet, and mixed traffic is the hard part.
You asked, @_adarshjaat007: how does a Tesla see the road in India? 🚗👀
📷 8 cameras watch all around the car — 360°, all the time.
❌ No radar, ❌ no ultrasonic parking sensors — newer Teslas use just cameras.
🧠 A computer turns the pictures into lanes, cars and people.
🚶 A person steps out? It brakes by itself (automatic emergency braking). 🛑
In India you are still the driver: hands on the wheel! There are no driverless cars on Indian roads yet.
