Multimeter simulator: learn to use a multimeter
Turn the dial, plug in the probes and measure batteries, a socket, wires and LEDs — safely. Then do the job cards.
⚡ POWERING UP THE LAB…
// HOW IT WORKS
The idea in 30 seconds
- Black probe always in COM. Red probe in VΩ for volts, ohms, beep and diode — in 10A only for current.
- V with a straight line (V⎓) = DC (batteries). V with a wave (V~) = AC (wall socket: 230 V · 50 Hz in India, UK, Europe; 120 V · 60 Hz in USA, Canada).
- Ohms, beep and diode use the meter's own battery: only on parts that are switched OFF.
- Current is measured IN SERIES (open the circuit and put the meter in it). Amps mode across a battery or socket is a short circuit.
- Only measure mains if you are trained and your meter is CAT II / CAT III rated. Practise on batteries.
